Granada is one of the most natural and cultural charm in Nicaragua. It is situated on the edge of Lake Nicaragua and in the shadow of the impressive Mombacho volcano. The Great Sultana- as Granada is also known- is a colonial origin city. It was founded by the Spaniard conquerors in 1524. The city downtown still preserves stunning buildings with two architectural styles : the so-called Nicaraguan baroque and neoclassic, this last style developed by the influence of Italian architects. The beauty of this Spanish style-breathtaking city is displayed in the “adobe” and “taquezal” homes with red-tiled roof, spacious corridors and inside patios.
